I am not looking to stir up any trouble or bring up old issues but as most know, we had a little censorship issue here recently and want to see how people feel about a recent news article along the same lines. Apparently, a religious man wants the name of a mountain to be changed. He wants Mt Diablo changed because it means devil in spanish and feels its against HIS religious beliefs. Here is a link to the story STORY/LINK Personally, I think its ridiculous as people in this country and others worship many different gods and there are a fair share who do indeed worship the devil. Personally, who is anyone to tell someone what to and what not to believe in because when you finally find out if you are right or wrong, its too late to tell anyone else (because you will be dead of course). And all these religions, even demonology, seem to have their own bibles.

You're right Brock, "You can't please all of the people, all of the time." However, I'm trying. While I agree that it's both ridiculous and stupid, I also agree that this topic belongs on a different forum!

perhaps we could add a general purpose discussion forum like the jam session at mimf where folks could talk about what ever topic, social, intellectual etc., etc. they want without incurring the wrath of the naysayers, who just simply do not have to open that door.

this is a community of sorts, and many who come here seem to have a natural desire to talk with others who come here about things which, unfortunately, also seem to ruffle the feathers of some others. such an off topic forum would enable such interaction.

I don't think we need to add a general discussion forum. Lance set this up to be specific to stringed instruments. In the past, the topic threads may have wandered off topic but that was what made the OLF enjoyable. That is the reason that Brock and Jay worked so hard to make the new software work like the previous software. As long as we don't wander far off from talking about meeting members, talking weather, roll-calls and so forth, I don't see any reason to change. Thats not to say that we won't change, but only as Lance sees fit. We are are a community but this is not a guild or an association and Lance should run it anyway that he wants. Lets just talk building, selling and related topics.      Don A38458.7689930556
